Barcelona ‘are willing to offload’ £107 million man to the likes of Chelsea in bid to clear debt

Barcelona are willing to offload Chelsea target Antoine Griezmann this summer to help ease the enormous financial issues besetting the club.

Griezmann joined Barca from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2019, having established himself as one of the world’s best forwards while winning the World Cup with France.

After firing at least 20 goals in each of the last six seasons, Griezmann scored just 15 times in 48 games in his first season for Barca, a disappointing haul given the €120m (£107m/$134m) fee required to bring him to the club, and he has not faired any better this season.

He has largely been played out of position since joining Barca, and because of that fact, he has not looked like the player that dominated over at Madrid for so many years and became one of the very best players in world football

And according to Sport, Barcelona – who are more than £1billion in debt due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic – are looking to sell one of their top earners, with France international Griezmann prime among them.

The report adds the Catalan outfit need to offload around £171million (€200m) from their wage bill to register all of their new signings and tie Lionel Messi down to a new contract.

And the outlet claims selling Griezmann will help ease around £107m (€125m) of that amount, alongside whatever transfer fee Barcelona manage to raise for the 30-year-old.

One of the best attacking players in world football and a man that has been linked with the Premier League alot over the past few seasons, yes he would be welcome at the London giants.
