Arsenal fans worried over Thomas Partey after Slavia Prague performance

Thomas Partey has struggled to find his best form for Arsenal since signing from Atletico Madrid last summer and the midfielder found life tough in the Europa League quarter-final first leg.

Arsenal fans have voiced their concerns over Thomas Partey following another poor performance from the midfielder.

The former Atletico Madrid star, who signed for the Gunners in the summer, struggled in the draw with Slavia Prague in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final.

Arsenal fans have rarely seen the best of Partey with big things having been expected of the 27-year-old since his arrival.

And supporters admitted they are worried following Thursday night’s performance against the Czech side.

One fan wrote on social media: “Thomas Partey having a night where, for a player of 27, he looks surprisingly raw.”

While another added: “For a player who’s played in Champions League finals he looks lost.”

And a third commented: “Genuine question – what does he bring to the team? Not goals, not assists, not creativity, not secure passing, not fitness, not tackles. He’s just an average, physically strong midfielder.”

Another put: “He’s obviously not a bad player but he’s really struggled since joining us. His passing has been terrible in early every game I’ve watched.”

With one more saying: “I still don’t think we’ve seen him have a good game and his passing is constantly wayward and sloppy. Initial impressions clouded by excitement, I think. Let’s hope he’s better next season.”

It wasn’t just fans that were concerned by Partey with former Arsenal star Martin Keown opening up on the Ghanaian’s performance.

Keown said on BT Sport: “Partey, as well, tonight, was another player that really disappointed me.

“Watching it live here, and we’re not getting into the stadiums that often, he didn’t look like he had the legs to get around the pitch.

“He wasn’t really bossing that midfield, and credit to them, by the way, Slavia Prague because they’ve got lots of good players and made good substitutions.

“But that’s an area of the pitch that I would’ve thought by now, he would be bossing.”
