Bauchi State Police Arrest Syndicate: Confessions of Rape and Robbery Unveiled in Swift Operation

Bauchi State Police Command has successfully apprehended six members of a criminal syndicate operating in Anguwan Kusu, Yelwa. The arrest was made on December 25, 2023, following a tip-off, with detectives from E Divisional Police Headquarters in Yelwa led by DPO SP Yahaya Yunusa taking swift action.

The suspects identified as Abdulgaffar Abdullahi, Ahmed Abdulkadir, Zakaria Saidu, Umar Abdullahi, Musa Saidu, and Musa Mohammed were charged with armed robbery. One of the accused, Umar Abdullahi, confessed to raping a 23-year-old polytechnic student during a robbery at Peace Palace Lodge in the Gwallameji area on December 9, 2023.

The syndicate, armed with machetes and torchlights, invaded the homes of Victor Amos and Dorcas Denis, stealing items including an LG TV, a Samsung Galaxy A51, an Itel keypad phone, and inflicting harm on the victims. The suspects also admitted to terrorizing communities in Gwallameji, Rafin Zurfi, Unguwan Kasu, and Millennium Quarters in Yelwa.

Recovered exhibits from the suspects include an LG ’32’ flat screen, a dagger, three torchlights, three machetes, an Itel keypad phone, and ₦5,910. The Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, ordered the transfer of the accused to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation. Once the investigation is complete, the suspects will face charges in court.

The public is urged to cooperate with the police, and the Commissioner assures citizens that the command is committed to ensuring the safety and security of Bauchi State residents.
