A 47-year-old carer from Johnstone has been found guilty at the High Court in Paisley for serious offences against a young person in his care.

The case began in January 2023 after the victim reported her concerns to staff at the children’s home. The man was later arrested and charged.

Detective Inspector David Hardie explained that the offender had betrayed a position of trust, harming someone who was supposed to feel safe and protected. He added that Police Scotland is committed to investigating abuse wherever it happens and encourages anyone with worries or information to speak up.
