“My Husband Is Not a Secret” – Ruth Kadiri Clears the Air on Private Marriage
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has opened up about her reasons for keeping her marriage out of the public spotlight.
During a recent episode of the Dear Ife series hosted by Ifedayo Agoro, the celebrated actress shared that prioritizing privacy over publicity has been one of the most rewarding choices she’s made in her personal life.
Ruth explained that maintaining a private marital life has helped her stay grounded and has allowed her to nurture her relationship without external influences.
“In my opinion, it was the best decision I’ve ever made. It has helped me stay centered and focused. It allows me to define my relationship on my own terms, without outsiders influencing how I interact with my husband,” she said.
The mother of two went on to highlight that her husband also benefits from this level of discretion, as he remains free from public expectations and scrutiny, thanks to his anonymity.
“Most people don’t know him, so he’s not under any kind of pressure from the public,” she noted.
Ruth was also quick to clarify that her husband isn’t being hidden—he’s simply a private individual.
“My husband isn’t a secret. My life isn’t as hidden as people assume. Those who truly know me are well aware of who he is. That’s enough. I’m not keeping him away from the world. We attend church together, we show up at events, and sometimes, his pictures are shared online. He’s present at most events I organize,” she explained.
She further shared that her husband chooses to stay off the public radar by choice.
“If you check his social media, he only shares scriptures and messages from the Word of God—no photos, nothing personal. That’s just who he is. He values his privacy,” she said.
Ruth Kadiri also addressed the often overlooked pressures that come with being a public figure in a marriage, emphasizing her appreciation for the ability to control at least one part of her life.
“There’s a lot of pressure that comes with being in a celebrity marriage, but it’s not often talked about. With how well my career is doing right now, I constantly remind myself to be grateful for having at least one part of my life where I get to set the rules and maintain control,” she concluded.
