The leadership of Iwaro Youth Council (IYC) paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Akoko Southwest Local Government, Distinguished Hon. Augustine Oloruntogbe at the Local Government Secretariat.
Piloting the affairs of the Council, the President Mr Bolorunduro Augustine and Ben Afolami who is the Publicity Secretary of Akoko South West Youth Forum said that the essence of the visit is to officially Congratulate him on his Electoral victory and to thank him dearly for his support towards all our activities; mounting of barricade among many others.
The Chairman, who was highly delighted to receive his immediate kinsmen appreciated the kind and noble gestures and he took his time to painstakingly reveal to the members of the Council some of the important programs the State Government has in stock for the Youth, which include tackling the high rate of unemployment among many other lofty programs.
The Board of Trustee (BoT) Chairman, Mr Osobu Kayode commended the Local Government Chairman for been on ground to receive the leadership of the Council and lauded him for his pragmatism and proactivenes on the mounting of barricades both in Oka and Akungba to protect lives and properties of our people.
The Hon Chairman, Augustine Oloruntogbe, flanked by the Hon. Secretary Mr Jide Okeowo and other Management of the Local Government thanked Iwaro Youth Council for the visit and promised that Akoko Southwest Local Government would do all it could to add value to the Council.
In a bid to further strengthen and promote mutual understanding between the Youth and law enforcement agents, the leadership of Iwaro Youth Council (IYC) also paid a familiarization visit to the new Director of State Security Service Mr Seyi Oyewamide.
One of the leaders of the Council Comrade Ben Afolami opined that it will be a good thing to work together with the Security Services, because law enforcement officers cannot be everywhere, hence the citizens involvement is necessary and germane to fight and combat crimes and violence.
The Director who was also very happy, thanked the leadership of the Council and said though crimes are indisputably part of our socioeconomic life, we must make collaborative efforts to fight it to the barest minimum.
