Reports have circulated claiming the Serie A side’s general manager Tiago Pinto is expected to arrive in London over the next 48 hours to tie up the Chelsea striker’s move.
The Blues want to sell him, with Romelu Lukaku preparing to sign and Abraham, 23, is seen as a replacement for Edin Dzeko, who is off to Inter to replace Lukaku!
Pinto will hope to have a deal for Chelsea academy graduate Abraham done by the end of the week.
The 23-year-old is expected to make way for Romelu Lukaku who is leaving Inter to return to Stamford Bridge.
Abraham has not been part of manager Thomas Tuchel’s plans last season and said, ahead of the game in Belfast, that he may be partly to blame for the expected exit.
“He was clearly not happy with the last half a year,” the boss said.
“Maybe he has reason not to be happy and maybe it was also my fault, not to push him and trust him on the same level I trusted other players. I can absolutely understand that he wants more minutes so that decision will be: how do we plan, what are Tammy’s plans, does he fight his way back into the team from the position where he ended last season or does he want to change club to have a better chance to be a regular starter, which I can completely understand?”
Arsenal and Roma are two teams linked with Abraham, while Lukaku is expected in London imminently, though is still waiting in Monaco with his agent, journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on Twitter.
“Chelsea are finalising paperworks together with Inter – there’s no problem or issue. He’ll be in London soon to complete his move to Chelsea.”
A contract has been prepared and when the £97m striker arrives in England he will sign it.
