Victor Osimhen close to making Chelsea transfer decision as Kylian Mbappe boost emerges
Chelsea chances of bringing Victor Osimhen to Stamford Bridge in the near future have taken a huge blow following Napoli club president Aurelio De Laurentiis’ revelation about a new contract for the player.
The striker has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League ahead of the January transfer window. However, it now seems as though he will be staying in Italy.
Speaking at an event in Naples, the Napoli club president said: “With Osimhen, we are about to sign the contract that was pending this summer.
Despite the blow in their hopes of signing Osimhen, the Blues have been handed a boost in their hopes of signing Kylian Mbappe. The French international made no secret of his desire to leave the Parc des Princes during the summer transfer window, turning down fresh contract proposals from the Ligue 1 champions.
Transfer guru Florian Plettenberg has reported that Liverpool have pulled out of the race to sign the striker. Writing on X, Plettenberg said: “Been told that Liverpool is NOT pushing for Kylian #Mbappé.
“His transfer in summer 2024 ist not an issue at this stage. #LFC.
“#PSG, still totally relaxed as they are financially secured (contractually) for his possible departure. Real Madrid is still the most realistic destination for him, either next year or the year after.”
